And [mention] when Jesus, the son of Mary, said, "O children of Israel, indeed I am the messenger of Allah to you confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad." But when he came to them with clear evidences, they said, "This is obvious magic."

Quran
Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered prophet, whom they find written in what they have of the Torah and the Gospel, who enjoins upon them what is right and forbids them what is wrong and makes lawful for them the good things and prohibits for them the evil and relieves them of their burden and the shackles which were upon them. So they who have believed in him, honored him, supported him and followed the light which was sent down with him - it is those who will be the successful.
Quran 7:157

interpretation
A Prophet Like Moses
Jewish and Christian readers usually see Israel’s prophetic line. Christians also apply the passage to Jesus through Acts 3. The wording does not name Muhammad. The Islamic reading is reasoned, not an uncontested translation.
Key passage
Bible
I will raise them up a prophet from among their brothers, like you. I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him.
Deuteronomy 18:18

interpretation
The Paraclete and the Promise of Ahmad
The difficulty must be admitted. The surviving Greek text reads parakletos, “advocate” or “helper.” John 14:26 calls the Paraclete the Holy Spirit. No known Greek manuscript reads periklytos or Ahmad. The connection may express the Quran’s claim about Jesus’ original announcement. The proposed Greek word change is not manuscript evidence.
argument
The Main Christian Reading
The Muslim response is not to invent a missing manuscript. It asks whether Muhammad fits the Mosaic pattern. It also asks whether Jesus’ original announcement is fully preserved in the later Gospel form. The Quran’s independent claim belongs in the larger case for revelation.

What the Languages Allow
In Greek, parakletos is well attested as advocate or helper. The claim that the word was originally periklytos has no manuscript support. A careful presentation should retire that claim. It should focus on the parallels that can be defended.

A Cumulative Argument
scripture
Scriptural Basis for the Islamic Perspective
This method is an Islamic interpretation. It does not erase Christian readings. It argues for continuity in divine revelation and for Muhammad as the final messenger.
scripture
Christian Scriptural Context and Early Church Testimony
Muslims can acknowledge this evidence and still ask whether the Quran corrects a later interpretation. The two traditions begin with different views of revelation and Jesus.
