Overview
Justice Is an Islamic Obligation
scripture
Justice Even When Emotions Run High
These commands rule out selective morality. A Muslim may oppose oppression while admitting facts that complicate a preferred narrative, condemning wrongdoing by anyone, and refusing to make an entire people guilty for the actions of a government, army, or armed group. Justice is an act of obedience to Allah.
Key passages
Quran
O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, Allah is more worthy of both. So follow not [personal] inclination, lest you not be just. And if you distort [your testimony] or refuse [to give it], then indeed Allah is ever, with what you do, Acquainted.

Quran
O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do.
Quran 5:8

scripture
The Prophet Forbade Killing Women and Children
This teaching must not be used selectively. Deliberately attacking civilians is wrong whether the victim is Palestinian or Israeli, Muslim, Jewish, Christian, or of no faith. One party's violation does not make revenge against another party's civilians just.
notes
Islamic Ethics and Modern Humanitarian Law Are Distinct
Under IHL, parties to an armed conflict must distinguish civilians and civilian objects from combatants and military objectives. The law also regulates proportionality and precautions in attack; the ICRC's rules-of-war guide gives a beginner-friendly explanation. Applying those rules to a particular event requires reliable facts and legal analysis. A slogan or social-media clip cannot establish a legal judgment by itself.
notes
How to Speak and Act Responsibly
A faithful response may include prayer, lawful charity through accountable organizations, careful learning, peaceful civic action, and truthful advocacy. It must reject dehumanization, false testimony, deliberate attacks on civilians, and identity-based hatred.
argument
Accountability Without Collective Blame
This approach is morally serious. It protects the innocent, keeps legal claims tied to evidence, and prevents grief from becoming hatred.
