The Council of Nicaea (325 CE)

The Council of Nicaea in 325 CE did not choose the biblical canon or invent belief in Jesus' divinity. It addressed an existing dispute about how the Son relates to the Father and adopted the term homoousios, 'of the same essence,' with imperial support from Constantine. The council shows that the final technical language of the Trinity emerged through post-Jesus debate, while Islam offers the simpler prophetic creed that God is one and has no partner.

Development of Trinity Doctrine

Christians find roots of Trinitarian belief in the New Testament, but the doctrine's precise vocabulary—one essence and three persons—was developed through centuries of debate and councils after Jesus. Christian theologians view this as clarification; Muslims see a movement away from the direct monotheism of the prophets. The Quran's invitation is clear: worship the one God, honor Jesus as Messiah and messenger, and do not make him a partner in divinity.

Early Christianity: First Century to Constantine

The earliest followers of Jesus were a Jewish community devoted to the God of Israel. Over the next three centuries, Christianity spread through the Roman world, Paul's mission brought large numbers of non-Jews into the movement, and debates about Jesus, law, scripture, and authority produced increasingly formal doctrines and institutions. Islam honors Jesus and his first disciples while calling people back to the uncompromising worship of the one God whom Jesus worshiped.

Early Islamic Preservation: Companions to Codification

The Quran and hadith were preserved by related but distinct methods. The Quran was a public liturgical text standardized early; individual hadith reports were later tested through chains of transmitters, comparison of routes, and criticism of narrators and wording. Hadith criticism is rigorous but does not make every report equal, which is why Muslim scholars classify narrations rather than treating the entire hadith corpus as uniformly certain.

Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa

Al-Aqsa is the Farthest Mosque named in Quran 17:1 and identified with Jerusalem in authentic hadith. The Prophet named it among three mosques with a special status for travel in worship, and Muslims in Medina faced Jerusalem for sixteen or seventeen months before the qiblah changed to the Kaaba. Understanding the scripture, the sanctuary's names, and its shared setting helps Muslims honor it with accuracy and justice.

Paul and His Influence on Christianity

Paul did not accompany Jesus during his public ministry, but said that the risen Jesus appeared to him. His letters are the earliest surviving Christian writings and profoundly shaped Christian teaching about Jesus' death, salvation, faith, and the place of Mosaic law. Christians see continuity with Jesus; Muslims ask whether Paul's theology moved the message away from the pure monotheism and obedience taught by the prophets.

Quranic Revelation History

The Quran was revealed publicly to Muhammad over about twenty-three years, memorized in worship, written by known scribes, collected after his death, and standardized for the expanding Muslim community under Uthman. Revelation, memorization, writing, and public transmission formed one connected process of preservation.

Who Are the People of Palestine?

Palestinians are a diverse people shaped by family, Arabic language and culture, religious life, shared memory, and ties to historic Palestine. They include Muslims, Christians, and people of other or no faith; people living in the land and across a worldwide diaspora; refugees and non-refugees; and many political views. Learning who they are begins with people, not slogans.

Who Is Prophet Muhammad ﷺ?

Muhammad ﷺ was born in Mecca around 570 CE, began receiving revelation around 610, migrated to Medina in 622, and died in 632. Muslims believe he was God's servant and final messenger: deeply loved and followed, but never divine or worshipped.

Why Palestine Matters to Muslims

Palestine matters to Muslims for two connected reasons: Al-Aqsa is a blessed sanctuary named in the Quran and honored by the Prophet, and Islam commands believers to stand for justice and human dignity. Sacred love should lead to worship, truthful advocacy, mercy, and care for people—not hatred or collective blame.

The Nakba and Palestinian Refugees Explained

The Nakba is the Palestinian name for the mass displacement and loss that accompanied the 1948 war and the establishment of Israel. About 750,000 Palestinians fled or were expelled. Their experiences differed, but the refugee crisis was real and remains central to Palestinian families, international diplomacy, and the Muslim duty to stand for justice without abandoning accuracy.

Palestine: A Beginner's Historical Timeline

Modern Palestine cannot be understood from one date or one war. This short timeline explains the British Mandate, the 1947 partition recommendation, the 1948 Nakba, the occupation that began in 1967, the Intifadas, and the Oslo process. It also shows why Muslims should seek justice without hiding facts that complicate a preferred story.

Gaza, the West Bank, East Jerusalem, Israel, and the Palestinian Diaspora

Palestinians live in Gaza, the West Bank, East Jerusalem, Israel, refugee communities across the Middle East, and a worldwide diaspora—a population living outside its ancestral homeland. These places have different legal systems and daily realities. Knowing the difference helps readers speak about Palestine accurately and see people rather than only borders.
